Chelsea player ratings: Pedro and Olivier Giroud dire in disappointing West Ham defeat

The Blues lost 1-0 at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League

Kepa Arrizabalaga

Didn't have too much to do in the first half, but when he was called into action from a Michail Antonio header, he made an excellent stop.

In the second half he could do nothing about the goal and made another excellent save to deny Fabian Balbuena. 7

Reece James

Some of his crosses in the first half were exceptional, but Chelsea's strikers weren't able to get on the end of them. Solid defensively as well, keeping Pablo Fornals quiet in the opening half.

Maybe gave Aaron Cresswell too much space for him to cut in and fire home. But was the best Chelsea outfield player on the pitch for the 90 minutes. 7

Kurt Zouma

A couple of really good passes out left to spread the play. However, was caught flat-footed and was beaten by Antonio for the header.

The Blues still look so vulnerable from set pieces and Antonio did a great job of running the defence ragged at times. 5

Fikayo Tomori

A solid opening half from the England international, although Antonio was trying to make life hard for him with his physicality and strength.

A pretty decent game from Tomori, who didn't do a lot wrong at the back. Tried to add a bit of tempo when he had the ball as well. 6

Emerson Palmieri

A couple of really good balls into the box as well, but not able to find his man. Pretty solid defensively in the first half.

In the second half, however, he was really quiet and provided very little going forward. Was well marshalled by Robert Snodgrass. 5

Jorginho

As skipper, wanted to lead by example but didn't have his usual first half, struggling to make a real impact.

It was much the same in the second half, as he couldn't get anything going. Probably his worst game of the campaign so far. 5

Mateo Kovacic

The midfielder really was the driving force in midfield and set some decent early tempo. Trying to push Chelsea onwards.

However, in the second half he couldn't really be that effective in the West Ham half. 6

Mason Mount

Playing in the number ten role, but nothing really went for him as he failed to really link up with the front men or provide much impetus.

In the second half nothing went for him at all. Some really sloppy passes that broke up play and meant that the Blues couldn't really get any fluidity. 4

Christian Pulisic

Looked the liveliest of the forward players in the first half, looking to be threatening on the ball and getting at the defence. But lacked that quality in the final third.

Faded more in the second half. Tried to make things happen but was hounded out a lot. Missed the best chance of the game. 6

Pedro

Looked rusty, with this being his first game since October 30. Some good link up with James at times, but didn't provide any threat in the first half.

Offered nothing in the second half, either. Could well be his last game for a while. 3

Olivier Giroud

Provided very little in the first half, not really getting into the game and having nothing in the way of chances.

It was much the same in the second half, with the Frenchman getting no opportunities and not effecting the play. 3

Tried to make things happen, but offered very little. 5

N'Golo Kante (on for Jorginho 63')

Tried to add some energy into the midfield, but the quality wasn't there.

Callum Hudson-Odoi (on for Giroud 71')

One shot well over the bar and no real threat. 5
